Dan Melnick, Ph.D. draws on a variety of professional assignments to help clients find, understand, use, and apply statistical results to further public policy goals. Dr. Melnick was the head of the Statistical Policy section at the Congressional Research Service and led two federal statistical offices [the Science Resources Studies Division at NSF, and the Office of Applied Studies in the PHS Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration].
While at CRS, Dr. Melnick consulted for a large number of Members of Congress and Congressional Committees and served as nonpartisan professional staff charged with presenting balanced analyses in a highly partisan context. This experience prepared him to work in a wide variety of consulting assignments. He provided professional research support for the drafting of legislation, during committee hearings and prepared reports for publication by Congress. This work focused on federal statistical agencies—such as the Census Bureau, the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the National Center for Health Statistics.
Dr. Melnick served in senior staff positions at the National Science Foundation and was a senior advisor to 2 Assistant Directors.
